In a world where busyness has become the default, Australians are increasingly craving homes that  feel like a retreat from the rush - spaces that offer warmth, character, and a connection to nature  without sacrificing modern comfort, enter the Modern Farmhouse.

Inspired by the cottage core movement - a nostalgic nod to simpler times - the Modern Farmhouse  captures the romantic appeal of country living while delivering the functionality and refinement today's  homeowners expect.

G.J. Gardner Homes Lead Designer Peter Mannion said there had been a marked rise in requests for  its Modern Farmhouse façades, as more Australians look to bring this relaxed, nature-inspired style to  their dream homes - whether they're building in the heart of the city, the suburbs or a rural setting.

"The Modern Farmhouse façade is our response to the increase in buyers longing for a style  associated with regional living but reluctant to let go of the conveniences associated with inner-city  locations," Mr Mannion said.

"The façade offers the best of both worlds, with a slice of rustic charm in customers' preferred  location.

"Complementing its natural surroundings, the Modern Farmhouse façade is synonymous with natural look materials, earthy tones, rustic finishes, textured or timber-look cladding, stone pathways and  steel frames, paired with light-filled open-plan interiors and sleek finishes.

"The façade sets the tone for the rest of the home, and we wanted to create something that emulates  the warmth and coziness associated with cottage core and a slower lifestyle."

The Modern Farmhouse façade is available for a select range of house designs, allowing customers  to tailor their home to suit their family's needs and style.

One of these homes with a surge in popularity is the Oakford, a popular pavilion style home with traditional farmhouse design prevalent throughout.

With grand windows bathing the interior in natural light, the house's open plan with large central  courtyard, open kitchen and dining space, raked ceiling and neutral colour palette are all defining  features of the popular style.

G.J. Gardner Homes CEO Trent Gardner said the Modern Farmhouse façade trend is proof that home  design is always evolving - and G.J.'s mission is to give customers the freedom to make it their own.

"We keep our ear to the ground, constantly watching for emerging trends so we can bring our  customers what they're asking for - and sometimes what they didn't know they wanted," Mr Gardner  said.

"We're here to make sure every customer has the option to create a home that's exactly what they  envision, whether that's a coastal Hamptons retreat, an urban contemporary design, or the character  and charm of a Modern Farmhouse."

G.J. Gardner Homes will be adding more Modern Farmhouse facades to its designs throughout the  remainder of 2025.
